The Skinny Bakers membuka satu lagi cawangan di Subang Parade. Business ni
menarik dan bagi saya kongsi sedikit dengan you all.
Sejarah permulaan The Skinny
Bakers
Pada
mulanya, adik ipar saya yang bernama Eniza buat baking secara suka-suka pada
tahun 2014. Sapa yang datang rumah time tu dia akan bagi cookies, cakes and
deserts.
Tahun
lepas, iaitu 2016, my mother in law went to UK for 2 months to lepak with my
sister in law Eniza.
Masa kat sana, both of them ada buat café hopping and
selalu jugaklah mereka borak pasal possibilities of turning passion into a
business.
April
2016, ada satu lot kedai dekat SS15 Subang Jaya ready for rent and time tu mak
mertua saya decided yang dia nak ambik kedai tu. She was still in UK holidaying
and was supposed to come back in May.
So, the
moment she came back from UK in May, straight away the next day she went to see
the shop and said she wanted the shop. She called contractor,designer and
suppliers. A month later, kedai pun ready.
They
named the café The Escapade by The Skinny Bakers and now the business from home
dah ada café sendiri.

My wife
pernah cakap dekat my mother in law to open small desert bar dekat shopping
mall sebab:
- The crowd – Normally kalau kat shopping mall, crowd dah memang ada. Crowd is very important in business. Tak guna bukak kedai kalau takda crowd.
- Purchasing power – Orang yang datang mall normally memang dah ready nak shop. Ni elemen yang sangat penting dalam business.
My mother in law a bit sceptical
sebab mall ni mahal sewanya and banyak sangat regulation.
Somewhere near August kalau tak
silap, ada satu food organizer called my mother in law cakap nak suruh dia
bukak booth 3 days kat Subang Parade. The fee was around RM 2k kalau tak silap.
Erin: Ma, u bukak je. Serious its
going to be good. At least you boleh tau if you can make it or not.
Mother in law: I risau laa..
Mahal ni. Boleh ke cover?
History begin!
She managed to get a whopping RM
10k plus for her first event in mall! She was definitely excited with the achievement
as it is beyond her expectation.
A month later, she opened a booth
at the Curve pulak and she got more than RM 10k this time.
So from these two events, she
knows and confident to open at mall. In December 2016, The Curve called her and
asked her to open her shop there.Alhamdulillah. That’s how she
entered the mall.Then later this year in 2017,
Subang Parade call and asked them to open pulak.
Future
hope for The Skinny Bakers
The Skinny Bakers is looking at
bigger picture of giving franchise later on. Perhaps, we should see how big
they can be.
I am definitely proud to say that
they achieved success within a short period of time due to the commitment,
hardwork and persistence by the mother and daughter combination.
